The making of comb is mostly seen among the Rukai, Paiwan and Tao. In the past, the Tao used bones, wood and bamboo to make combs, while the Rukai and Paiwan mostly used wood. Combs were made by men but used by women. Parents would ask a woodcarver to make a comb for their daughter.
